How To Use Your Menstrual Cup
STEP 1: CLEAN
Make sure the small air holes at the rim of our cup are clear and open. Wash your hands before you insert your Hana Cup, you’ll want to make sure it’s clean by rinsing it carefully
STEP 2: FOLD
You can insert the cup while sitting, standing or squatting. Spreading your legs will help with a successful and comfortable insertion. The easiest way to insert the cup is by folding it. Fold the cup in on itself to make flat, then in half to form a C shape. (It will look like a “U” or a “C” shape).
STEP 3: INSERT
With one hand, gently separate your labia. Keep it rolled up and with the other hand, guide the folded Hana Cup rim-first into your vagina.
You may find it easier to squat, or stand with one foot on the edge of the bathtub. To check that the cup has fully opened, slide a clean finger up to the cup bottom and feel it - it should be round. If you feel any folds along the cup, gently rotate the cup to create a sealing suction.
STEP 4: WEAR
Your menstrual cup is now in place and safe to wear for up to 12 hours. If you have a heavy flow, you may need to remove and empty your cup sooner to avoid leaks. We recommend that you empty your cup 2-4 times per day.
Feel free to wear your cup overnight! The cup may remain where you placed it at the base of your vagina, or it may ride up higher. Both positions are completely normal. The stem makes removing your cup an easy process!
STEP 5: REMOVE
First wash your hands (Do NOT skip this step!) Relax your muscles. Gently grasp the bottom of the cup. If your cup is a little high, gently tug the stem until the cup lowers.
By breaking the seal and squeezing the bottom of the cup, you can remove it easily and without any pain. Do not pinch the cup too much or too high, or you could force the contents out and cause them to splash.
Be sure not to pull it out by holding the stem alone. Keep the cup upright so the contents do not spill.
STEP 6: EMPTY
Once your cup is removed, simply empty the contents into the toilet. Rinse & Reuse.
